Spaces: A co-working space in Gatineau, QC
IWG (partner company of Spaces and Regus) operates 3,000 co-working spaces in 120 Countries, and they acquired European based “Spaces” to boost its portfolio and presence in Canada.
One of IWG’s major refurbishment projects was the historical Eddy Match Building in Gatineau, Quebec. The site was situated on the water at a size of 35,000 square feet. The plan was to transform the facility interior into cohesive, modern and minimalist loft-style office spaces—while celebrating the century-old post and beam, polished concrete, and existing metal architecture.
Mywall was selected because, as a “Turnkey” solution with framing, glass and hardware all arriving at the same time, the schedule was shortened while reducing disruption and downtime.
The Challenge
Clearly, drywall partitions could not be the focus of such a captivating space, so interior glass wall partition systems were evaluated.
The Gatineau Project Scope was approximately 1,200 linear feet of glass-to-glass partitions with polycarbonate connectors which allows the partitions to be demountable and relocatable for any future reconfigurations that might be required in the future.
The Solution
Mywall was able to enhance the design vision and complement the existing and original structures. The mywall H5T Partition System was selected for this project to minimize the aluminum profiles while maximizing the glazing to capture the natural light. Black anodizing was chosen for the finish to best compliment the refurbished brick and wood interiors.
Although mywall is based in Burlington, Ontario, installation in another Province and of a significant scope was executed flawlessly. Mywall was complimented by JCB the General Contractor on this project as one of the very few companies that were on budget and on time.
